Applying for a Secondary School Place

The Secondary School Open Events information for 2019 admissions:

Parents applying for secondary school places for their child can find out more at open events starting in September.

Parents of primary pupils in years five and six can find out more about what Camden’s secondary schools have to offer their children at our annual Moving On event from 4pm to 6.30pm on Thursday, 20 September 2018 at Haverstock School, Haverstock Hill, Chalk Farm. All our secondary schools are due to be there. You need to register for your free place.

Please register for your free ticket at and search for Camden Moving on.

You can visit the schools on their own open days and evenings in September and October (see poster attached).

Meet the Parents, a local social enterprise, will also host informal discussion forums from this September for primary parents to find out more about their nearest secondary schools.

Applications for autumn 2019 places open this September and the closing date to apply for these year seven places is 31 October 2018. Read our latest guide to Camden secondary schools and how to apply here.

General Secondary Transfer Information:

The council co-ordinates the transfer from primary to secondary school for admission to all Camden state secondary schools.

You can apply online from around 1st September 2018 until 31st October 2018.

All Camden secondary schools organise open days and evenings in September and October and we recommend you attend these before applying. Camden Council publishes a list of these open days on their website traditionally in August each year - we will print this list off and pop it in book bags at the start of the new school year in September 2018.

Parents of Year 5 and Year 6 primary school pupils are invited to attend Camden's annual Moving On Event. You will need to register for a free place by visiting:

If you are considering applying for private education please visit the individual school's website or contact their school offices for further information on the application process and details of their open days/mornings, as each school may have their own process.

If we can be of any further assistance with any aspect of your application please don't hesitate to ask.

Message from Camden School Admissions team:

All Secondary transfer applications must be completed online at after 1st September. Prior to completing an application all parents must register for an eadmissions account (if they don't already have one).

The Camden School Admissions team is offering to assist the parents of Year 5 children who live in Camden to register for an eadmissions account over the summer holidays.

Parents can call us on 0207 974 1625 and we can assist either over the phone or set up a meeting.
